Salon Boris … Updating the Human League for a new generation.

SALON BORIS are Tom McGarrigle and Tatyana Bugayev. Their first album ‘I am the Drug’ was released through Shellshock on UDISCS at the end of 2006, and included remixes by Linus Loves and the Vector Lovers. They have also remixed El Presidente for their ‘without you’ single. The singles ‘Bride of Boris’ and ‘I don’t want you’ were picked up by Radio One and BBC Radio 6, tracks were also picked up by Sat Bisla’s Passport Approved radio show in America, which is syndicated over several states.

The band have just finished their 2nd album which includes a remix from Mark Vidler (Go Home Productions) – Doors/Blondie – riders on the storm, and a cover of Transvision Vamp’s classic – ‘I want your love’.

SALON BORIS have played all over the UK ranging from the SLAM tent at T in the Park, to Mark Moores electrogogo night in Soho, London, to the eclectic Razor Stilleto in Sheffield and Scram Party in London’s East End. The have also recently finished a year long dj residency with their Electroball club night which they hosted in Karbon Glasgow. SALON BORIS are also a favourite band of the exclusive All Saints fashion stores, and are regularly asked to perform at a range of exclusive events by them.

The Salon Boris debut album gained extensive radio play in the UK from Steve Lamacq [Radio 1/BBC6 music], Rob Da Bank [The Blue Room Radio 1], Eddy Temple Morris (XFM), Tom Robinson (BBC Radio 6), John Kennedy, Claire Sturgess [XFM London], Air [Radio Scotland/Radio 1] (Salon Boris also recorded a live session for Air).

The first single Freakshow was play listed on Beat 106, (now XFM Scotland). Radio Magnetic A play listed the 2nd single ‘Bride of Boris’.

Salon Boris have also been favourites with USA tastemakers Sat Bisla and Mike Savage who have been playing the Album and also featured their singles on Passport Approved on Indie 103.1 and generated a lot of plays on other alternative/indie stations across the USA and Canada.

Salon Boris recently completed a superchunk dj mix for the McSleazy show on XFM which was aired in August 2006.

Salon Boris have recorded a live session for the Jim Gellatly [Xposure] on XFM Scotland which was aired in September 2006.

Salon Boris were featured in the first airing BBC Scotland’s new music programme ‘The Music Show’.

Salon Boris have remixed El Presidente single ‘Without You’ two versions English and Russian Sony/BMG which charted. Salon Boris have toured throughout the UK at the coolest venues including: Mark Moore’s Electrogogo and the Cock in Soho, Club Evol (Ladytron’s night) in Liverpool, Tramp in Manchester, Razor Stiletto in Sheffield and at Saltlick in Glasgow, headlined the Electrobix night in Glasgow on Hogmanay 2005/6 which sold out to a capacity crowd of over 500. Salon Boris played to a sold out gig at King Tuts in Glasgow in Janauary 2007.

Salon Boris have played T in The Park [Slam Tent], at a Blue Room event with Rob Da Bank and Chris Coco in Glasgow, Clients night – Being Boiled, in Notting Hill, at Death Disco in Glasgow with Lady Miss Kier of Dee-lite fame and MarkMoore (S-Express). Salon Boris have also supported CLIENT and HARD-FI.
